Please join us for the  launch of Angela Sundae’s new book  POND MAGIC  On Sunday October  17th at 2.30 @ Marks & Gardner Gallery.

Children’s author and illustrator Angela Sunde spent her childhood in the family orchard, working, playing or dreaming while curled up with a book under one of the apple trees. Today she takes delight in writing and illustrating stories that inspire the dreams of children everywhere. Illustrated by Lisa Coutts, Pond Magic’s themes are French, frogs, magic and fairytales.

And we would love children to come along to the launch dressed as a character from their favourite fairytale and adults to come in something ‘French’.  And join us for stories, songs and games in the garden.

Angela’s first book Pond Magic, an Aussie Chomp published by Penguin Australia, will be released in September 2010. Pond Magic tells the hilarious story of an intolerant, self-obsessed 'tween', whose  relationships with her family, her best friend and a French exchange student are made all the more difficult by a little magic and a lot of burping.

Author Angela Sunde's strong voice, likeable characters and themes that appeal to the tween age group are embedded within a clever and satisfying plot. Her experience as an overseas exchange student, a teacher and a lover of fairytales enhances this light-hearted urban fantasy
for 8-12 year olds.

Also a talented illustrator, in 2009 Angela was awarded 3rd place in the CYA Conference 'Illustrated Picture Book' category and two of her children’s stories were short-listed for the Charlotte Duncan Award, Celapene Press.

Awarded two RADF grants in 2010, Angela is currently undertaking a picture book mentorship and writing a junior fantasy novel in the beautiful Gold Coast hinterland where she lives with her husband, two teenage children, a Manx cat, two cockatiels and three bush rats in the compost heap.

Narelle Oliver - renowned children’s illustrator and author - will be launching the book.

Nadia Sunde, Angela’s sister ( they are a talented family), the international award winning children’s songwriter/singer/musical will be MC’ing and performing at the launch.  She performed and co-wrote the children’s summer holiday musical theatre performance Nadia’s Wish, which was at the State Library of Qld through all of January. So she will be Inviting kids to come in their favourite French theme/ fairytale/character etc.
